Self-Archiving Policy
The DNLU - Student Law Journal promotes open access to legal scholarship and encourages the dissemination of research through self-archiving. This policy allows authors to archive their work while maintaining its academic integrity and ensuring proper attribution.
1. This policy refers to the Archiving policy of the DNLU – Student Law Journal, hereafter the ‘Journal’.
2. The Journal follows a Self-Archiving Policy in order to preserve and freely disseminate the published content.
3. Versions Permitted for Archiving
Authors may self-archive the following versions of their manuscripts:

- Pre-Print or Author’s Original Version (AOV) [The version submitted by the author before peer review and editorial revisions.]
Platforms: Institutional repositories, subject-specific repositories, or personal websites.
Condition: Must include a note indicating the manuscript has not been peer-reviewed. - Post-Print or Accepted Manuscript (AM): [The version after peer review and revisions but prior to final formatting by the journal.]
Platforms: Institutional repositories, non-commercial repositories, or personal academic websites.
Condition: Must include attribution to the DNLU Student Law Journal. - Final Published Version or Version of Record (VOR): [The formatted version published by the journal.]
Platforms: Institutional repositories or personal websites.
Condition: Must include proper citation and a link to the journal’s official website.
- Pre-Print or Author’s Original Version (AOV) [The version submitted by the author before peer review and editorial revisions.]
4. Platforms for Archiving
Authors are encouraged to archive their manuscripts on the following platforms:

- Institutional repositories.
- Non-commercial repositories (e.g., SSRN).
- Personal academic websites or professional profiles.
- Open-access platforms such as ResearchGate or edu.
5. Guidelines for Archiving
- Attribution: Authors must acknowledge the DNLU - Student Law Journal as the original publisher of the work. For example:
“This article was originally published in the DNLU - Student Law Journal, Vol. [X], Issue [Y], Year [Z], DOI: [DOI link, if available]” - Link to Published Version: Authors must include a link to the official version on the journal’s website when archiving the final published version [VOR].
- Version Labeling: Each archived version should clearly indicate its status (e.g., Pre-Print, Post-Print, or Final Published Version).
- No Embargo period: The journal imposes no embargo period on the sharing of accepted or original versions of the manuscript. Authors are free to disseminate their work immediately upon acceptance.
6. Purpose and Benefits
The Self-Archiving Policy supports the broader dissemination of research findings, facilitating increased access and visibility of the work. By allowing authors to archive different versions, the policy acknowledges the varying stages of research dissemination and supports academic transparency.
Including a link to the final published version aids in clearly identifying and distinguishing the officially published research from earlier drafts or versions. This helps prevent confusion and ensures that readers reference the most accurate and up-to-date information.
7. Copyright Considerations
The Journal retain the copyright of the published work while moral rights vest with the author. The author is allowed to re-publish and share right the article, subject to the Policies & Guidelines of the Journal for Copyright, Open Access & Licensing.
8. Open Access Policy
Authors publishing under an Open Access license may share their article immediately upon publication according to the terms of their selected license (e.g., CC BY, CC BY-NC, CC BY-NC-ND). Journal’s Policy on Open Access to be referred.
When sharing, authors must attribute the journal and provide proper citation details, including the URL or DOI of the article.
9. Compliance and Updates
Authors are responsible for adhering to this policy when self-archiving their work. Failure to comply with this policy may result in the removal of archived versions or other corrective actions deemed necessary by the Editorial Board. The editorial board reserves the right to update this policy and will notify authors of any changes through its official website.
10. Conditions of Use for Self-Archived Content
The DNLU- Student Law Journal (DNLU-SLJ) encourages academic dissemination and transparency through self-archiving practices while maintaining compliance with copyright and intellectual property laws. The following conditions govern the use of self-archived content:
- Purpose of Use
- Self-archived content may only be used for academic and research purposes.
- Any content downloaded for research or text-based experiments must be destroyed once the research or experiment concludes.
- Non-Commercial Use
- Self-archived content cannot be used for commercial purposes, including but not limited to sale, resale, licensing, lending, transfer, or any other form of financial gain.
- Self-Archiving and Republishing
- Authors are encouraged to self-archive their accepted manuscripts (post-peer-review versions) in non-commercial repositories or on personal academic profiles, provided that appropriate attribution is included.
- Verbatim republication of content, in whole or in part, is not permitted unless proper permissions have been obtained.
- Reproducing quotations or excerpts up to 100-150 words is allowed for academic purposes, provided proper citation is given. Longer text excerpts or images require prior written consent from Editorial Board.
- Attribution and Moral Rights
- All uses of self-archived content must include proper attribution, including citation of the original source and, where applicable, a link to the final published version on the official DNLU-SLJ platform.
- Users must respect the moral rights of authors and ensure the integrity of their work is not compromised.
- Third-Party Content
- For content that includes materials from third-party sources, users must comply with the copyright policies of the respective owner. DNLU-SLJ is not liable for any misuse of third-party content.
- Liability Disclaimer
- The use of self-archived content is at the user's own risk. DNLU-SLJ accepts no liability for damages or consequences resulting from the use of its content.
- Text and Data Mining
- Text and data mining for academic purposes is permitted, provided the use complies with the conditions outlined above and does not infringe upon the copyright of the authors or DNLU-SLJ.
- Abstract and Citation Information

- Authors may reuse the Abstract and Citation information (e.g., Title, Author name, Publication dates) of their article anywhere at any time. A link to the article on the journal's official site must be included.
Rule 9 of the Policy empowers the Editorial Board to update the Policy from time to time, the intimidation of the same shall be made through the Journal’s official website only. Individual communication will not be made.
