About the workshop on legal research and academic writing

The lecture on legal research and academic writing was organised by the DNLU Student Law Journal Committee. The resource person for the event was Mr. Adithya Anil Variath, Assistant Professor of law, MNLU Mumbai. This workshop was aimed at introducing the students with nuances of academic writing.  

The guest speaker Mr. Variath introduced students to various new and interesting ideas on writing like the “Inverted Samosa” formulae for researching while writing a research paper. 

About the speaker

Adithya VariathĀ is an Assistant Professor of Law and Coordinator of the Centre for Research in Air and Space Law at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, India. He is also a Research Fellow at the Information Society Law Center, University of Milan, Italy.

He previously served as a Research Assistant to the Government of India Ministry of Commerce and Industry’s Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) – IPR Chair, MNLU Mumbai. As a researcher, his work focuses on International Law, R2P, TWAIL and AI. He was a Research Group Member at the Center for AI and Digital Policy, USA. He writes frequently on issues of international law for Geopolitics, Modern Diplomacy, Times of Israel, etc. His recent work is a co-authored book ā€œAn Introduction to International Lawā€ published by Thomson Reuters. He has presented papers at conferences and workshops hosted by the University of Cambridge, King’s College London, University of Pretoria and Graduate Institute, Geneva, among others.
